About me

Hello, I am Bjarne. I am happy to welcome you to my website. I'm still setting things up, but please feel free to look around what's already there. I love to create and understand how things work. Currently I am trying my best at making my own phone! Follow my progress through my blog/rss feed and the project page. As I am not proficient in low level like C++ im happy to receive any help I can get in form of PRs or just general advice. Generally i try to stay curious on everything and anything and hope i can share that through this website.

Early programming life

My focus has always been about computers. I think it is really fascinating. When I was 8, I started "developing" my first games using "PowerPoint". I should still have them laying around on some hard drive. When I find them, I will definitly post them on here. When I got around making a level editor for that game though, I quickly found myself overwhelmed. Turns out that having a 10 by 10 grid with different things to place on results in quite a lot of slides. I of course didn't make that calculation and pushed on. My father thankfully stopped me from continuing and installed Game Maker 7 on my computer. Who knows how many slides I would have continued to create.

With game maker I have made multiple games, two of which got an 1.0.0 release before distracting myself with another project. Neon Ball Jack the Jumper

Going professional

In retrospect, I would have prefered taking studies in other subjects more seriously when it mattered. But during highschool, I couldn't be bothered about anything not related to computers. So I was rather happy when I started being an apprentice in the field of computer science.

Doing so, I learned how to actually programm. It was lots of fun making silly games in HTML or battling different programms against each other. Later I was at a company as an apprentice where I got to know the professional world. The company was located in the city, so I was commuting a bunch. This is where I thought about my "dream game". There are a few pictures flying around the web of some early versions I have made. I really hope that one day, I can unveil it in full.

My bike

Besides my computer, I also love my bike. I bought it in 2022 at the Fietsenbörse which is a great place to get a used bike. I've been lucky though as I am rather tall, and bikes in my size are not often sold, especially on a used market. It is a single speed bike which is nice. I don't have to bother about what gear to drive in because I'm always driving in the wrong one.

I love to take my bike out on a ride even if I don't have a destination in mind. It is so much fun, the city recently has put up new sign posts for bike lanes so I don't even need a map now which is great.

It does have a flip-flop hub, and I have tried the fixed side, but there is no way I'll be driving that daily. I have no idea how anybody can drive with that, and I've only seen it used once in the city.

I'll be making an comprehensive list of all stickers and parts of the bike and will be posting them on here in a while!
